Flower Power Outdoor Prep

One week closer to springtime, and now that the temperatures are (hopefully) rising it is time to start some Outdoor Prep of your home to look as fresh and fabulous as the inside!

Here are some DIY Outdoor Prep projects that you can work on to up your curb appeal game:

CLEANING

Spring cleaning isn’t just limited to the inside of your house! Thanks to the change of seasons and Oklahoma winds, plenty of red dirt, leaves, trampolines…you name it…have probably blown into your yard, porch, and gutters.

You take the time to clean inside your home for showings, but buyers start at the curb, so make sure it sparkles just as much! Sweep the sidewalks and porches, rinse off the dirt from the brick/siding, rake the yard, and throw the debris in the trash!

FRONT DOOR & PORCH

A lot of effort often goes into making the foyer of a home feel warm and welcoming – the same should be applied to the outdoor entryway. Make sure the paint color of the front door is attractive and in good condition, maybe add a wreath, lay a doormat, or add some patio furniture to stage the area.

The more living spaces you can create, even outside, the bigger the home feels.
Makes sense, right? “Bigger is better,” totally applies here.

LANDSCAPING

What is the old saying – April showers bring May buyers? Er. Flowers? I kid, I kid…kinda.

Spring is quickly approaching, along with the kick-off of peak home-selling season. Nothing adds to curb appeal quite as much as fresh flowers and manicured landscaping! If you don’t know where to start – no worries! – the Myriad Gardens has a page dedicated to monthly planting guides for Oklahoma.

Annnnnnd, if you happen to have some extra helping hands at home during spring break, here is a link to a site with great suggestions on how to get the kiddos involved. The site breaks things down into age-appropriate tasks, so the whole family can be involved! For once you will be okay with the kids romping around in the dirt!

We hope you have a great week basking in the sunny outdoors and making your home Yard of The Month worthy – you’ve got this.
